Character Design (29/10/2013)

In today's lesson I learnt about variety of shapes and the anatomy of a male and female, for my task I was given a character and was meant to roughly draw down their structure, after that I then did the same but tried to make it more like a male character and then enlarge the character as if they'd gained weight.

Character Design: Prop Thumbnails

As my Hero is an inventor I drew a few normal tools, after that I tried to re-draw them and add steam-punk elements to them, as well as a tool belt. The hero also has a utility backpack with a built in arm so that he can get work done faster, I like the initial design but I need to work on it more to add extra utilities like a grapple hook.

Character Design: Rough Character Sheets and Logline

These are still pretty rough as I'm not certain on the name of my story, characters and the objects/props in the world but I roughly know how I want them to behave and act. By the end of the week I hope to have it more fleshed out.

Character Design (22/10/2013)

In today's lesson I learnt about Anthropomorphic, where we characterized normal objects making them more life like. As a fun game I was given a living room so I listed objects that's usually found in the room, I decided to go with a fireplace as I imagined it being quite grumpy, with fire breathing out its mouth when it shouts. The next task that I was given was to mix a character with an object that I had brought into class, the object that I used was a hole punch and the character I had to mix it with was batman.

Influence Maps

After our group tutorial Alex and I decided that we was going to change the setting that our character was going to talk in, so instead of it being inside a phone museum it's now set in an elderly persons home/living room.

Character Design (15/10/2013)

In today's lesson we learned about shapes and how they have different meanings behind them, when creating a character and that it can mean different thing when you mix shapes. For an exercise I was given an Image of Wonder Woman and was told to draw out the shapes that she was created from, which were squares and then use different shapes to recreate the image, I tried using triangles to see the outcome and it felt to me that not much changed.
After the first exercise I had then been given the task to show a piece of work that inspired me and try to draw the character again but in a different style. The character I chose was Jinx from the video game League of Legends.

Rough storyboards

Rough Ideas of how the animation would go but after the group tutorial there's going to be a lot of changes

Influence map & Thumbnails

As our recorded voice says they're born in 1922 I looked at some 1922 phones.
By taking a phone from the influence map above, I drew it a couple of times to get a better idea of how it's drawn so that I could characterize it more.
Once I had a rough idea I then added some colour and changed the design to try and make it seem more old/elderly.
