Life Drawing (30/10/2012)

Today I got given freedom in my life drawing class so I did a couple quick sketches but then I got given two thirty minute drawings and the last one a twelve minute drawing which was fun because I got to go outside my comfort zone and just do what I wanted with all the mediums I had.

Drawings on The Train

Images 1-2 are drawings I did on the train going home from an event in London and the third image is just some character work for something I might do in the future just have to work on it A LOT more!

Unit 2: Influence maps

For my second project I'm to create an environment in Maya, My environment is the secret lair of the Sumatran Super Hero. Below are my influence maps I looked for stuff that my lair could be mixed with and architecture of the buildings in Sumatra and had a look at some lairs that could fit in with rain forests, volcanoes or swamps.

Life Drawing (23/10/2012)

In Life drawing I did some Quick poses and then moved on to practice of perspective and foreshortening which was really good practice i feel the poses came out quite accurate perspective wise. the guild lines proved to be very helpful.

Using Images I created silhouettes of some chandeliers to incorporate in my Main Hall piece so that it helps display the time period the building was made in. I feel four, six and seven are the ones that seem most suited to show the Victorian time period.

Last night I did some quick thumbnails in my sketch book to work on perspective I don't think it went very well I need to practice with it some more.

But today I did some more Photo Shop thumbnails. I feel the Blue Room came out quite successful as it's the one I've been stressing on the most since I couldn't get the perspective right but I had a few conversations with Phil and other students and got some tips which was really helpful.

This is the final floor map of the Blue Room a bit more detailed to help get the idea of what's in the room, although in image one The room looks too small and squeezed together so I picture the room being a little larger for example image two. Now to work on the angle and perspective then I can start working on my finals.

Floor plans for the Blue Room as I'm having difficulties figuring out where most the furniture goes, so from this I can pick out the ones I like and then do a more realistic floor plan to then get the design of the furniture.

Life Drawing (16/10/2012)

In my lesson of life drawing today I did four two minute poses with charcoal, then two five minute drawings in pen which I feel I should have been faster with because I only managed to get the outline when in previous drawings I've done them faster and managed shading. The last piece I was given about an hour and twenty minutes, it was the same as last week, where we would fill the page with charcoal and then use a rubber to rub out lines to show where light was and then darken parts with charcoal if needed.

Film Review: King Kong

King Kong

Did some more thumbnails in Photoshop. Still trying to work on perspective, the blue room still needs more work I feel I need to expand it more and then fill the room instead of trying to squeeze everything in but I'll have it figured out soon.

Was work on this thumbnail in Photoshop before I got feedback on my review I brought one of my original thumbnails into Photoshop and just expanded it. I liked the turn out but I still don't think it gives of a sense of fear and scariness so I will need to work on some more thumbnails to get the perspective I need.

Maya: Pencil and Rubber (5/10/2012)

In our second lesson of Maya Alan showed us how to use some certain tools to create the pencil and the rubber which I found very interesting as it's the first time I've used Maya. It sometimes got very frustrating as it would mess up or do something I wouldn't want it to but I still need to practice to improve but Alan's tutorials are a lot of help as it goes into a lot of detail.
