Thumbnails

Last night I did some quick thumbnails in my sketch book to work on perspective I don't think it went very well I need to practice with it some more.

But today I did some more Photo Shop thumbnails. I feel the Blue Room came out quite successful as it's the one I've been stressing on the most since I couldn't get the perspective right but I had a few conversations with Phil and other students and got some tips which was really helpful.

Thumbnail

This is the final floor map of the Blue Room a bit more detailed to help get the idea of what's in the room, although in image one The room looks too small and squeezed together so I picture the room being a little larger for example image two. Now to work on the angle and perspective then I can start working on my finals.

Floor plans for the Blue Room as I'm having difficulties figuring out where most the furniture goes, so from this I can pick out the ones I like and then do a more realistic floor plan to then get the design of the furniture.

Thumbnail

Was work on this thumbnail in Photoshop before I got feedback on my review I brought one of my original thumbnails into Photoshop and just expanded it. I liked the turn out but I still don't think it gives of a sense of fear and scariness so I will need to work on some more thumbnails to get the perspective I need.

Thumbnails

Just a few thumbnails from my extract these are mainly just sketches in pencil and pen trying to find the angle and perspective of some environments I want to use for my final pieces. Five and six are the images i think stand out most for my environment of the house but I still think it needs more work.

Project: thumbnails

Thumbnails that I created during the Photoshop lesson on Friday which I found very exciting to do as it seemed so rushed but you could still see the design even if a few lines were out of place the first image is a concept for the brook, the second is the gate making way to Hill House and the third is a design for the entrance hall.

Project One: Cinematic spaces - Influence Maps

I created some influence maps to show off some initial ideas and to give me more ideas on the designs I want my environments to be. In number two the two films that were created from the book one from 1963 and the other 1999 they were a big help watching as it was good to see how others saw the environments of the book. In the other influence maps examples of objects, interior and exterior that I found can picture in my environment as they have a Victorian look to them. in most images they're too bright but I imagine my environment to be darker which is why I will figure out my colour schemes once I have designed some thumbnails.

Project One: Cinematic spaces

The extract of a book that I was given for my first project was Shirley Jackson's book 'The Haunting of Hill House.' To start off I thought the best thing to do would be to read my extract and highlight keywords that would describe parts of environments and objects or words that would help me find out the type of style and decorations  the house would have which proved to be very helpful it led me to believe that the house was built furnished in the Victorian times. I then went into doing more research on the author and watching the film that they had released called 'The haunting' released in 1963 which I will go into more detail in a new post once I have typed up my notes.
